Meghan Markle's family members have already made quite the impression in their relatively short time in the spotlight. Her dad Thomas Markle admitted to staging paparazzi photographs just a week before the royal wedding, among other drama that's unfolded in the public eye.

Her mom Doria Ragland accompanied her daughter to St. George's Chapel on the big day. She was the only immediate member of Meghan's family to attend. Her two half-siblings, who've also started their own controversies in the press, were not present.

But the relative we are most excited about is the one the world hasn't met quite yet: the next royal baby. We know that the duchess is due some time next month, and has done a lot to prepare for the seventh in line to the throne.

From what we've seen, it's likely that Doria will be the only relative meeting Harry and Meghan's little one. But here's everything we know about the duchess's family so far.

Her parents, Doria Ragland and Thomas Markle, met in the late '70s.

"My dad was a lighting director for a soap opera and my mom was a temp at the studio," Meghan wrote in a 2015 essay for Elle about being biracial. "I like to think he was drawn to her sweet eyes and her Afro, plus their shared love of antiques."

On August 4, 1981, they welcomed Meghan into the world, later moving to The Valley in Los Angeles. Meghan recalled experiencing a lack of diversity growing up as she worked to "find my own truth," but credits her parents with helping her establish her identity.

They divorced when she was 6 years old.

Markle lived with her mom, a yoga instructor and social worker, after the separation. The two are still close to this day and were spotted together at the Invictus Games in 2017, when Prince Harry reportedly asked for permission to propose.

Her dad inspired her to get into television.

"Every day after school for 10 years, I was on the set of Married ... with Children, which is a really funny and perverse place for a little girl in a Catholic school uniform to grow up," she told Esquire in 2013. "There were a lot of times my dad would say, 'Meg, why don't you go and help with the craft services room over there? This is just a little off-color for your 11-year-old eyes.'"

After she grew up and got into acting on her own, Tom, an Emmy-award winner, would call her and give her tips on finding her light, she joked.

He did not walk Meghan down the aisle.

Given Meghan's close relationship with her mom, the media initially speculated that Doria would escort the bride down the aisle, but Kensington Palace later announced that Thomas would do the duty per tradition.

The 74-year-old retiree was scheduled to travel from his home in Rosarito Beach, Mexico, to Windsor Castle ahead of the wedding to meet the groom and the royal family for the first time. Just days before his flight across the pond, Thomas admitted to orchestrating paparazzi pictures in order to improve his public image. He also revealed that he had recently suffered a heart attack and needed surgery to repair the damage. After much back and forth, Kensington Palace finally confirmed he would no longer attend.

"Sadly, my father will not be attending our wedding," Meghan said in a statement. "I have always cared for my father and hope he can be given the space he needs to focus on his health." Prince Charles walked Meghan down part of the aisle instead.

Things haven't improved since then. Most recently, Thomas shared an intimate and private letter sent from Meghan with the press.

Her mom rode with her in the car to the wedding venue.

She wore a custom dress and day coat designed by creative directors of Oscar de la Renta, Fernando Garcia, and Laura Kim, Kensington Palace confirmed in a statement.

Edgardo Osorio of Aquazurra designed her shoes and British milliner Stephen Jones, O.B.E., who's worked with Meghan closely since she moved to the UK, created her custom hat.

Doria Ragland also spent time with the Queen, Prince Philip, Prince Charles, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge before the wedding.

She has two half-siblings.

Although she was Tom and Doria's only child, Meghan also has two siblings from her dad's previous marriage. Thomas Markle Jr., now 52, previously praised his sister and her the engagement.

"She was always the family's princess but now she's going to be a real princess and I couldn't be more proud," he told the Daily Mail, calling his sister the apple of their dad's eye. Tom Jr. is 15 years older than her, but says that he still saw his little sister "all the time," even after the divorce.

However, his frequent musings to the press soon turned to harsh criticism panning Meghan and begging Prince Harry to call the wedding off.

"As more time passes to your royal wedding, it became very clear that this is the biggest mistake in royal wedding history," Tom wrote in the letter, which he shared with InTouch. "Meghan Markle is obviously not the right woman for you." He also called her a "jaded, shallow, conceited woman that will make a joke of you and the royal family heritage."

It's no surprise he was not invited to the wedding. And in January 2019, he was arrested in Oregon on a DUI charge.

Her half-sister is estranged from the family.

Samantha Markle, 54, previously worked as a model and actress as well. She's now working on two forthcoming books under the title In the Shadows of The Duchess. The first is set to be released in April or May, around the time of Meghan's due date.

Originally titled, The Diary of Princess Pushy's Sister, these book will allege that Meghan always wanted to become royalty.

Samantha has reportedly called her half-sister a "social climber" and criticized her for not helping their father more financially. She also claimed responsibility for her dad's staged photos. Most recently, she contributed to a documentary about the Markles and said Meghan "doesn't have a heart."

The two apparently haven't spoken in nearly a decade since Samantha's multiple sclerosis diagnosis.
